I am Janet — a San Luis Obispo, Five Cities and Edna Valley wedding planner. I created Sandcastle Celebrations seven years ago, after taking a break from the work force to raise our two sons. Sandcastle Celebrations was a way to showcase my love of entertaining, design, and new beginnings. It all began 10 years ago when a friend asked me to design and coordinate her wedding. I drew upon my extensive experience in the food and hospitality industry to tackle this newfound challenge. At age 18, I started working as a server and wedding caterer. This was the perfect introduction to the wedding industry. These experiences created a solid foundation to learn about wedding coordination. Simultaneously, I was elected PTO President at my sons’ elementary school, where I organized many school-wide fundraisers. Creating the foundation for successful fundraisers was the perfect way to hone my communication skills and organization. We raised thousands of dollars during the recession to continue to pay for many of the services that the school district was forced to eliminate because of budget constraints. In addition to the school fundraisers, I also created and organized several fundraising events to benefit a local child battling cancer. Raising thousands of dollars to assist his family during that difficult time was very fulfilling. My love of service and community planted the seed in my mind for my eventual career choice, wedding planning.
Seven years ago I started this company with the mission to create more sustainable events on the central coast. The name of the company reflects my love of the coast and creating something beautiful from the local environment. I love sharing my knowledge of the central coast and all the bounty it has to offer. Whether you are a local or visiting for the first time, I love to share our local wines, produce, and seafood. I encourage our clients to hire locally to ensure that our wedding community remains vibrant. I have fostered many relationships with local vendors that share our passion for sustainable events.
Also, I have a passion for design. Our family was lucky enough to purchase several homes in the past decade. I had the pleasure of transforming the houses into homes that were beautiful and updated. From choosing paint colors to creating lush gardens, my love of design was born.
Over the last seven years, these experiences and an exceptional work ethic have helped me establish Sandcastle Celebrations as one of the most sought-after event and design companies on the central coast.
