Dana Powers House Wedding

Last year, we had the pleasure of planning and designing Lauren & Kyle’s romantic Dana Powers House Wedding. Their subtle French influences and soft romantic vibe came to fruition with the meticulously curated rentals we procured from Embellish Vintage Rentals, a sister company to the Dana-Powers House establishment. With so many talented vendors involved in this wedding, we were very eager to share the captivating photos captured by Michelle Roller Photo.

Recently we had the pleasure of reconnecting with our gorgeous couple to reflect on their wedding day. Please read on through their own words.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

There were a lot of favorite moments but, our top two were our first dance and how much fun EVERYONE had on the dance floor. We took dance lessons for a few months prior to our wedding, which was definitely a challenge. Our sweet moves took all of our guests by surprise and it was our first triumph as husband and wife. I love watching our first dance knowing how much hard work and practice we put into it.  After that, we were able to relax and enjoy the party, as did everyone else. Our guests all tell us how much fun they had and how sore their legs were the next day from dancing.

Why would you suggest hiring a wedding planner?

Planning a wedding is a huge undertaking. As someone who has not been planning her wedding her whole life, Janet really helped me figure out how to incorporate my personal style into our wedding design. Additionally, a wedding planner is a great resource for suggesting and securing additional vendors. She was a lifesaver when I hadn’t hired someone to do signage weeks before the wedding. She reached out to several of her contacts and pulled through despite the time crunch.  A great wedding planner helps keep every detail of the wedding planning process on track the months before the big day, they coordinate with all of your vendors, and they execute all of the special attributes you planned. Looking back, I can’t tell you why we would not recommend a wedding planner.

What inspired you most, when planning your wedding?

We really wanted to exemplify our wedding as a reflection of who we are as a couple. We decided to have our wedding locally in the Central Coast where we met and fell in love. Our invitations, venue, vows, food, drink, dessert, decor, and music truly represented things that inspire us and that make us happy.

What surprised you on your wedding day?

That we were running low on hard alcohol for our signature cocktails before dinner! Either we underestimated how thirsty our guests were or how much of a hit our cocktails would be, regardless, our wedding planner came to the rescue. Jessica made us aware of the situation and quickly helped us execute a plan to send someone on a booze run.
